Zazadin Han was built in 1237 by Saadettin, the architect and also vizier
(prime minister) of Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad. This han has an inordinate plan
with its very long courtyard (17x54m.) and small enclosed section (22x28m).
There is a small masjid situated above the entrance portal of the building. A
narrow staircase leads to it from the courtyard. In the enclosed section,
huge parallel vaults cover rectangular wings opening to a central axis. This
axis is at right angle to the entrance and back wall. At the centre of this
vaulted central axis is a partly collapsed dome. It is possible to see the
remains of the corner squinches in the high drum, which was once supporting the
dome. The vaults and walls of the enclosed part embody a refined stone masonry.
